What is the data integration relationship among the three systems ERP, MES, and APS? ERP, Enterprise Resource Planning, MES, Manufacturing Execution System, and APS, Advanced Planning and Scheduling, are three types of software systems widely used in manufacturing. Each is responsible for different business processes, but to achieve more efficient production and management, these systems usually need to be integrated with one another.


The Data Integration Relationship Among ERP, MES, and APS Systems


1. Data Integration from ERP to MES:

1. Production plans: ERP passes production plans to MES, and MES arranges daily production activities.

2. Material requirements: ERP calculates Material Requirements Planning, or MRP, and MES manages real-time consumption of raw materials and components based on this information.

3. Customer orders: Customer order information is transmitted from the ERP system to MES so that MES can adjust production according to order priority and delivery dates.

4. Bill of materials data: Product design data still resides in PLM, but from a purely ERP perspective, the BOM, Bill of Materials, is transferred from ERP to MES to guide the production process.

2. Data Integration from MES to ERP:

1. Production execution data: The MES system feeds actual production data, such as production quantity, production time, and scrap rate, back to the ERP system.

2. Equipment status: MES provides equipment operating status and maintenance requirement information that can be synchronized to the ERP system for asset management.

3. Inventory levels: Real-time inventory information updated by the MES system is passed to ERP for inventory management and replenishment decisions.

3. Data Integration of APS with ERP and MES:

1. Real-time scheduling: The APS system receives long-term plans from ERP and combines them with real-time production data provided by MES to generate optimized short-term production schedules.

2. Resource optimization: APS analyzes resource information provided by ERP, such as machines, personnel, and materials, together with actual usage in MES, and carries out optimized resource scheduling.

3. Order changes: When APS detects order changes or urgent orders, it adjusts the plan, recommends the new plan to MES for execution, and notifies the ERP system to update order status.

4. Performance feedback: Based on actual execution conditions in MES, the APS system can provide performance analysis reports to ERP for improving future production plans.
