Bamboo is hard in texture and has vertical grain, unlike the mesh-like grain of wood. Therefore, panel furniture made entirely from bamboo materials is prone to cracking during processing, and wood-processing equipment cannot be directly applied to bamboo. This places higher requirements on the processes, cutting tools, and molds used in bamboo processing equipment. For this reason, in 2020 the company decided on a strategic transformation and jointly developed bamboo industry 3.0. intelligent equipment with equipment manufacturers, including intelligent bamboo color sorting machines, CNC bamboo and wood customized intelligent machining centers, heavy-duty moving-table automatic machining centers, automatic cutting machining centers, CNC drills, CNC mortising machines, CNC double-sided copy milling machines, CNC band saws, CNC drilling and tapping machines for coat racks, automatic panel joining machines, automatic vacuum packaging machines, and other CNC and intelligent equipment. There are now about eight similar machine-substitution systems, said Ge Dongshui, director of Weijia Group's main factory.

In 2012, Weijia used Yonyou's ERP system T6, based on a C/S architecture, meaning a client/server model. In 2016, it upgraded to the T+ cloud service system, based on a B/S architecture, meaning a browser/server model.

Through the ERP system, each module can be managed efficiently and precisely. For example, the product process management module forms production planning and dispatching operation data. Through chip cards embedded in Soonfor iPad workstations, it enables interaction among data, equipment, and operators, allowing each process to transmit product inventory and piece-rate wage cost information to the ERP system in real time. Managers can monitor and control order execution and inventory at any time through computers or mobile apps. The lean production management module provides data-based support for quality and cost control. Intelligent equipment uses equipment as the carrier and software plus network connectivity to realize intelligent management and flexible transformation, coordinating research and design, production management, process flow optimization, equipment health management, product quality control, and other tasks to complete data-based execution of the entire production process.

Through the Smart Manufacturing and Full-Process Informatization Collaborative Management project, Weijia successfully achieved transformation and upgrading, giving the company capacity advantages, cost advantages, product quality advantages, and product technology advantages in the industry. The company has developed from traditional single-mode manufacturing toward internet-based intelligent manufacturing, forming a typical industrial internet application.

The implementation of the project also brought Weijia many achievements in intellectual property. While carrying out intelligent equipment technical transformation and introducing MES and ERP systems, the company launched research and development topics such as production intelligent equipment and full-process informatization control, bamboo automatic color sorting and feeding system process technology, bamboo cutting board integrated technology, air compressor waste-heat recovery drying preparation system, new bamboo strip pressing process, new cutting board integrated mass-production process, and new bamboo fiber tableware materials. These efforts led to eight research and development patent achievements, bringing the company's cumulative independent intellectual property patent achievements to more than 200.
